The Belmont Barbershop has only been around since 2005, but we think the quality and atmosphere of our shop is just as timeless as the craft itself. Barbering is not as popular as it used to be. A lot of men have moved on to salons for their grooming needs. The schools that teach barbering have become quite rare. We only opened this shop because we needed a place to work. In turn, we found that a lot of guys are frustrated with their salon haircuts and are often times uncomfortable with the idea of even going to a salon. It's kind of strange to say, but we are somewhat of a specialty shop because we only cater to men. We specialize in cutting men's hair and shaving their faces. You won't get a bunch of mediocre pampering services that a lot of salons use to lure their customers. Instead you will get high quality service delivered by licensed barbers.
The Belmont Barbershop may offer high quality haircuts and the luxury of a shave, but we are actually geared for the average guy. You won't hear just the over-played hits from decades ago. We really like music and we play all genres. While you are listening, you can shoot a game of pool. We simply opened a shop that all of us can enjoy. We charge 15 dollars for a haircut and 30 dollars for a shave. The reason shaves cost twice as much is because we spend twice as long on them. The haircuts all end with a little bit of shaving on the neck and around the ears, but the face shaves require a lot more effort. The face shave involves hot towels, shave oil, and hot lather. We use high quality razors and chairs that are older than almost all of our customers.
My name is Josh Cooley. I am the owner. Billy Stump and I opened the shop back in 2005. We have come a long way. We sat around a lot when we first opened, but one by one the shop grew. We grew mostly by word of mouth. Our customers discovered the simple beauty of a regular barbershop. We recently expanded to a 3 man operation. Andrew Theile is working with us now. Billy and I are originally from Ohio. Andrew is from Michigan. We give him a hard time about that, but he's alright. I can honestly say that a customer can sit in any of our chairs and receive an exceptionally high quality haircut. Our barber education seperates us from most of the other options that men have in Chicago.
The Belmont Barbershop is located in Chicago's Roscoe Village neighborhood on Belmont just East of Western Avenue. We prefer that our customers make appointments. If you come in without an appointment, we may or may not be able to fit you in.
Parking is available on the street and is usually easy to find.
Sorry, but we do not accept credit cards.
